Hot Oil Treatment

Hot Oil Treatment

If you have very dry hair that breaks easily, a hot oil hair treatment is just what your poor tresses need.

What’s special about a hot oil treatment is that the heat opens up the cuticle of your hair and allows moisture to penetrate the hair shaft.

It’s a pretty involved process but it’s so worth it. Your hair will be detangled, soft, and shiny.

Directions:

Boil half a bowl of water in a pot. Pour into a big bowl.

In a smaller bowl, combine one heaping tablespoon of coconut oil and one tablespoon of avocado oil. Place this into the big bowl of hot water.

When the coconut oil has completely melted, test a little on your wrist to see if it’s too hot. If it is, take the small bowl out of the water and let it rest for a couple of minutes.

Section your hair into 4-6 parts, depending on how long your hair is, and apply the oil from scalp to tip. You can use a brush or comb to help work the oil evenly through your hair.

Wrap a warm damp towel (you can chuck a damp towel in the microwave for 30-40 seconds) around your head for 20-30 minutes. Then wash with shampoo and conditioner as per usual.

Tip: Did you know? Coconut oil softens hair while avocado oil is incredibly moisturizing for frizzy hair.

Great idea! I recently permed my hair and extremely clueless on how to treat my hair as it has gotten frizzy! I tried rubbing in olive oil but it didn’t help… This is a great alternative treatment, I will definitely give it a try. Thanks 🙂
