We all know that a good night’s sleep is essential for being productive and feeling great — all the more so if you juggling multiple balls during the day.
Our sleep needs to be rejuvenating, undisturbed, and long enough for us to feel rested and energized in the morning.
Thus, a good bedtime routine is key. When you are stressed or feeling under the weather, sleep may not beckon as you wish. You could turn to a simple natural remedy for help — a DIY aromatic pillow spray to signal to your body that sleep is imminent and to improve the quality of your rest.
What you need:
A spray bottle – you can up-cycle an old toner spray bottle or get one from the dollar store
Rubbing alcohol or vodka
Essential oils – lavender, sandalwood, ylang ylang, chamomile are great for inducing relaxation and sleep
The amount of water, alcohol, and essential oil depends on the size of your spray bottle. But a good guiding principle is to have 90% water and 10% alcohol.
For every 100ml or 3.3 oz, our preferred strength is 25-30 drops of essential oil. Or you could start with fewer drops and work your way up till you reach the level of how fragrant you would like your pillow spray to be.
When it’s ready, just spray 2-3 times directly onto your pillow five minutes before sleeping. Be careful not to spray too much because your pillow would become wet and might take a while for the spray to evaporate.
